Mobile slatwall gondola in a hardware store aisle

Mobile Slatwall Gondolas

A slatwall gondola on locking wheels goes where your customers are. Roll one into the checkout queue or lock the wheels and link several together to form long-run aisles.

Slatwall Gondolas That Move To Your Traffic

Store traffic can shift by season, by promotion, and by hour. A gondola on locking wheels moves with it, so a seasonal display in summer can work the checkout queue during the holidays.

Slatwall gondola being filled with impulse merchandise

Load It

Double-sided gondola shelving with 1.5-inch on center slat spacing gives your planograms more positions than the 2- or 3-inch standards. Use your existing slatwall accessories.

Employee rolling a mobile gondola through the store

Roll It

A rolling display rack goes where the traffic is. Locking wheels hold a unit in place, then release when you want the floor clear or need the display somewhere else. No dollies, no disassembly.

Connecting two mobile slatwall gondolas together

Link It

Slide a connector between the uprights of two gondolas and they become one run. Add units as needed, or separate them just as quickly when your layout changes.

From the Front Door to the Checkout

The same gondola earns its keep across your space. Park one near the entrance to greet customers as they enter, link several into a full aisle to increase capacity, or add one to the checkout queue where impulse merchandise sells itself. All without time-consuming setup.

FAQ

What is a slatwall gondola?

A slatwall gondola is a free-standing retail fixture with slatted panel faces on both sides, used to display merchandise in aisles, at entrances, and inside checkout queues. Mobile versions sit on locking wheels, so you can reposition the unit without disassembly. The slat spacing determines how many shelves, hooks, and baskets fit; Lavi's panels use an on center spacing of 1.5-inches, which allows more flexibility with planograms. They accept standard slatwall accessories.

How much weight can a mobile gondola hold?

A NeXtrac mobile gondola can carry up to 600 pounds distributed across its shelves. Load capacity depends on how weight is distributed across the slats and platform, not on concentrating it on one shelf. Spread heavier merchandise across the panel face, keeping the heaviest items low or on the platform.

Can mobile gondolas be linked together?

Yes. A link slides between the uprights of two adjacent gondolas and joins them into a single run. You can add units as an aisle grows and separate them when the layout changes, so one set of fixtures can cover both a seasonal floor plan and a permanent one.

What's the difference between a mobile gondola and conventional gondola shelving?

Conventional gondola shelving is assembled in place from uprights, base brackets, and rails, and it stays where it's built. A mobile gondola arrives as a base, base covers, two uprights, and a slatwall panel; it sits on locking wheels and can be rolled to a different part of the store in minutes. Grocery store gondola shelving can be created by linking units together to form long-run aisles. Stand-alone slatwall displays suit floors where promotions, seasons, and traffic patterns move the selling opportunity around.

Do mobile gondolas work with standard slatwall accessories?

Yes. The panel faces use 1.5-inch on-center slat spacing and accept standard slatwall shelves, hooks, baskets, and sign holders, including accessories you already own. Tighter spacing than the 2-inch and 3-inch standards common elsewhere means more usable positions on the same panel height, which gives a planogram more room to move.

Where are mobile gondolas used in a store?

Checkout queues, store entrances, seasonal zones, wide aisles, and concession concourses. The common factor is contested floor space where selling opportunities shift. In a queue, the gondola puts impulse merchandise within reach of people already waiting; at an entrance, it meets shoppers before they choose a route.

Can signage be integrated into gondola systems?

Yes. Gondola systems are frequently paired with slatwall signage, promotional graphics, category markers, and wayfinding elements.

Are gondola fixtures appropriate for high-traffic retail environments?

Yes. Commercial-grade gondola systems are designed for durability, merchandising flexibility, and long-term retail performance.
